I've used these Sony Premium tapes for years! I don't think I've experienced any dropped frames ever, even when recording using HDV! I recon its safe to say just buy these and have peace of mind if you're on a budget but are still shooting HDV or DVCAM - compared to the way more expensive Digital Master tapes. Perfect for normal DV recording too. Best used with Sony camcorders due to the different lubricant on the actual tape, other manufacturers use a different lube and could affect the head inside the camera. Another note, if you start using these tapes, its best to stick with them due to the whole lubrication 'issue' as I mentioned above. Not a major deal though.

These are the only tapes I use. They work fine for DV, DVCAM or HDV.
